Mandelbrot Explorer

The Mandelbrot set is the set of complex numbers c for which the iteration z → z² + c stays bounded. Colouring each pixel by how quickly it escapes produces the famous infinitely detailed fractal boundary. Drag to pan, use the wheel or the zoom buttons to dive in, and raise the iteration slider to sharpen deep zooms. Smooth (continuous) colouring avoids banding, the live readout shows the centre coordinate and zoom factor, and you can reset the view or export the current frame as a PNG. Rendering happens in row bands so the interface never freezes.

Notes

  • A point c is in the set (drawn dark) if z → z² + c never escapes to infinity; the colour of the rest encodes the escape speed.
  • The boundary is a fractal with infinite detail: every zoom reveals new miniature copies of the whole set.
  • Deep zooms need more iterations to stay sharp — raise the iteration count when the detail turns muddy.
