Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your data when you use ABC Tools. The short answer: there are no accounts and we do not store what you type into the tools, but we do use Google Analytics to measure visits.

Last updated: 2026-10-05.

The short version. There are no user accounts, no registration, no login and no payments. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used; it sets cookies and sends usage data to Google. The numbers you type into our calculators are not stored: server-side tools compute your result in memory and forget it, and browser-only tools never send your data to us at all.

Who we are

ABC Tools is a free collection of online calculators and utilities. The site is operated by:

Operator (data controller)
BTCL Software Bt., registered seat: 2890 Tópart utca 5-7. lph. 1/2, Tata, Hungary.
Contact
[email protected]
Hosting
Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (AWS), eu-central-1 region, Frankfurt, Germany.

The site is aimed at a general international audience, including users in the European Union. Because of that, the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the GDPR) applies, and this policy is written around it.

How the tools handle what you type

The site has two kinds of tools, and they treat your input differently.

Server-side calculators

Most tools for statistics, finance, math, health, science, engineering, sports, gambling odds and planning (such as the Seating Chart Optimizer and the Secret Santa Generator), plus the grade calculators, work like this: what you enter (numbers, and for planning tools also names or lists) is sent to our server as a JSON request, the result is computed in memory, and the result is returned to you right away. We do not store these inputs or results, we do not log them to any database, and we cannot link them to any identity. Nothing on the site identifies you by name.

Three web tools also run on our server: the WHOIS Lookup, the Redirect Chain Checker and the Page Size & Request Analyzer. The domain or URL you enter is sent to our server, which looks the domain up on public WHOIS servers or fetches that address for you. The site being checked sees a request from our server, not from you. These inputs are not stored either.

Browser-only tools

Tools for images, audio and video, text, data files, games and puzzles, simulations, machine learning, maps, crafts, random generators, time and date, cryptography, education quizzes and trainers, and most developer and SEO tools run entirely inside your browser. What you give them (files, passwords, keys, pasted text) is processed on your device and never reaches our server, unless you choose to publish a result (see published embeds below).

Two developer tools contact outside services directly from your browser. The MAC Address Lookup sends the MAC address you enter to maclookup.app to find the device maker. The DNS Lookup sends the domain name you enter to the public DNS resolvers of both Cloudflare and Google, so it can compare their answers.

Health calculators

Health tools (for example BMI, calories and pregnancy dates) accept health-related numbers. These are processed transiently, in server memory or in your browser, only to compute your result, and they are never stored. We cannot connect them to a person.

Most browser-only tools keep working if you disconnect from the network after the page has loaded. That is a good way to confirm that your data is not being sent anywhere.

Published embeds

Some tools include an optional publish feature: the Data Visualizer, the WhatsApp & Telegram Chat Analyzer, the puzzle makers (such as the Crossword Maker), the Dynamic Geometry Board and the 3D Geometry Board. If you click the publish button, the finished result is uploaded to our server so it can be embedded on other websites through an iframe or shared with a direct link. This is either a rendered image (an SVG) or the puzzle or construction itself (its grid, words, clues, answers or shapes). Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to publish. Published content is public: anyone with its link can view it. Every embed shows a "Made with abc.tools" attribution footer served from our domain. Keeping that attribution visible and unaltered is a condition of the free embed service. Please do not publish anything that contains personal data (for example a chat chart that shows people's names), because it becomes publicly accessible.

To prevent abuse, our server keeps a short-lived count of publish requests per IP address, which expires after one hour. We also count how often each published embed is viewed, as a single daily total with no visitor details.

Other data we process

Beyond your tool inputs and anything you choose to publish, our own server keeps the data in the table below. What outside services receive, including Google Analytics, is described in the cookie and third-party sections.

What we process, why, on what legal basis, and for how long
DataPurposeLegal basisRetention
Server access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser user-agent, referrer) Security, abuse prevention and debugging Legitimate interest, GDPR art. 6(1)(f) 30 days, then deleted
Publish rate-limit counter (IP address and a request count) Preventing abuse of the publish feature Legitimate interest, GDPR art. 6(1)(f) Expires after one hour
Feedback messages (free text, optionally naming a tool) To read, sort and act on your suggestion or issue report Consent by voluntary submission, GDPR art. 6(1)(a) No fixed period: kept until we delete it
Aggregate usage counters (one daily total per tool and per published embed) To see which tools are used Not personal data Kept as aggregate totals

Server access logs

Like almost every website, our web server records the IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser user-agent and referrer of each request. We use these only for security, abuse prevention and debugging. We keep them for 30 days, then delete them.

The feedback form

You can voluntarily submit a suggestion or an issue report. The message (a free-text field, optionally naming a tool) is stored in our database so we can act on it. It is anonymous: we do not collect a name, an email address, an IP address or any other identifier with it. Please do not include personal data in the message. If you type personal data anyway, it is stored as part of the message.

To sort incoming feedback, we send the message text and the tool it names to OpenRouter, a US-based AI service, which passes it to an AI language model that labels the message and groups it with similar ones. We do not delete feedback automatically: it stays in our database until we remove it. If you want a message you sent deleted, write to us and quote it so we can find it.

Usage statistics

We count how many times each tool page is viewed and each calculation is run, stored as a single daily total per tool. We store only these aggregate numbers. There is no IP address, no browser detail, and no session or visitor identifier attached, so the counters contain no personal data.

Cookies

We set one cookie ourselves: a technically necessary CSRF cookie that protects forms. Google Analytics sets two analytics cookies on our domain to tell visitors apart and measure how the site is used.

csrftokenProtects forms against cross-site request forgery. Expires after one year.Strictly necessary

_ga_<ID>Set by Google Analytics to keep track of your current visit. Expires two years after your last visit.Analytics

Third-party requests and your IP address

Some services handle requests for us, and some resources are loaded from other servers. Whenever your browser connects to one of them, that provider sees your IP address and the request itself. This is a normal part of how the web works, but we want you to know about it.

  • Cloudflare. Every request to abc.tools passes through Cloudflare's network, which delivers our pages and protects the site against attacks. Cloudflare therefore handles your IP address, your browser's request headers and the content of each request (including calculator inputs on their way to our server) in transit.
  • Google Analytics. Our pages load Google Analytics from www.googletagmanager.com. It sends Google the pages you view, the page you came from, your device, browser and screen size, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), how long you stay and basic interactions such as scrolling, linked to the random ID in the _ga cookie. We use it only to see aggregate traffic. Google processes this data for us under its Google Analytics terms.
  • jsDelivr CDN. Tool and guide ("wiki") pages load open-source libraries such as Chart.js and KaTeX from cdn.jsdelivr.net, and some tools load further libraries from there when you use them.
  • unpkg CDN. Interactive map tools load the Leaflet map library, and some audio and video tools load the FFmpeg library, from unpkg.com.
  • SheetJS CDN. Tools that read or write spreadsheet files load the SheetJS library from cdn.sheetjs.com.
  • OpenStreetMap. Interactive map tools load map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org, so the OpenStreetMap servers see which map area you are viewing.
  • Tool-specific services. The Speed Reading Trainer loads the Lexend font from Google Fonts when you open it. The Geography Quiz loads flag images from flagcdn.com. The Planetarium & Star Chart loads satellite orbit data from celestrak.org when you fetch a satellite's orbit. The MAC Address Lookup and the DNS Lookup contact outside services as described above.

We do not use social media embeds.

Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the European Union, the GDPR gives you these rights:

  • Access to your personal data.
  • Rectification of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure of your data.
  • Restriction of processing.
  • Objection to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Data portability.
  • Complaint to a supervisory authority.

We hold little personal data: short-lived server logs, anything personal you type into a feedback message, and the pseudonymous analytics data Google Analytics collects for us. None of it is linked to a name or an account, so we usually cannot tell which records are yours, and many requests will find nothing for us to act on. This is a feature of the design, not a way to avoid your rights.

To exercise any right, write to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the authority in the EU country where you live or work. In Hungary, where the operator is based, that authority is the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH).

Children

The site is usable without giving any personal data. There is no age-gated data collection, no account creation and no profile. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, because we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone in a way that identifies them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We announce changes on this page and update the date at the top. Please check back here now and then. You can always find the current version at /privacy/, and our terms at /terms/.
