Synth & Music Theory Studio
A playable subtractive synthesizer wired straight into music theory. Play the on-screen keyboard with mouse, touch or your computer keys while two oscillators (sine, saw, square, triangle with detune), an ADSR envelope, a resonant low-pass filter with its own envelope, an LFO and a delay shape the sound — every knob live, every change audible instantly. An oscilloscope and spectrum analyser show the waveform you are sculpting. On the theory side, pick a key and scale to highlight its notes on the keyboard, click chords from the scale’s harmonized degrees, and let the progression player loop I–V–vi–IV (or anything you write) with an arpeggiator while you solo on top. Presets range from warm pads to acid bass.

Notes
- Sound is generated with the Web Audio API entirely on your device: oscillator → filter → amplifier envelope → effects, the classic subtractive synthesis chain used by analog synths since the 1970s.
- The filter cutoff envelope is what makes a note "wow" or "pluck": brightness changing over time matters more to our ears than the raw waveform.
- Scale highlighting uses the interval formulas (major: W-W-H-W-W-W-H and friends), and the chord buttons are the harmonized triads and sevenths of the chosen key — the same chords behind most pop progressions.
- Audio starts only after your first click or key press — browsers require a user gesture before a page may make sound.
- Everything runs locally in your browser; your files are never uploaded to any server.
