Cross-Stitch Pattern Maker
Drop a photo or drawing and get a ready-to-stitch chart: the image is reduced to your chosen stitch width, its colors are clustered and matched to real DMC embroidery floss shades (or generic bead colors, or a free RGB palette), and every color gets a print-friendly symbol. The chart shows a counted grid with bold lines every 10 stitches, a legend with thread codes, per-color stitch counts and skein estimates, and the finished size on 14/16/18-count aida. Toggle between the color preview and a symbols-only black-and-white view, print the chart (wide charts are split into page-sized bands with the legend on its own page), or export PNG/SVG.

Notes
- Colors are clustered in the CIELAB color space, not raw RGB, so "closest color" matches how the eye sees differences; each cluster is then mapped to the nearest palette entry by Lab distance.
- The built-in DMC table is a curated subset of about 100 representative floss colors, not the full 500-shade range — expect the nearest match, and check the code against a real color card before buying thread.
- Skein estimates assume roughly 1,800 full cross stitches per skein at 14-count with 2 strands — a common rule of thumb; loose tension, higher counts or fractional stitches change the real usage.
