Caffeine Half-Life Visualizer illustration

Caffeine Half-Life Visualizer

Plots the caffeine remaining in your body through the day from the doses you enter (coffee, tea, energy drinks), using exponential decay with an adjustable half-life, and shows the level at your bedtime.

Espresso ≈ 60–90 mg, filter coffee ≈ 90–140 mg, black tea ≈ 40–60 mg, cola ≈ 30–40 mg, energy drink ≈ 80–160 mg.
Typical adult range is 3–7 h; pregnancy, some medications and liver conditions lengthen it, smoking shortens it.
Roughly half an espresso; sensitivity varies a lot.

Notes

  • Each dose decays as mg × 0.5^(t/half-life); the curve adds all doses together.
  • With a 5-hour half-life, a 90 mg coffee at 15:00 still leaves about 30 mg in your blood at 23:00 — comparable to half a cup of tea right before bed.
