Logic Grid Puzzle Generator

Creates classic logic grid puzzles (zebra puzzles, Einstein puzzles): every person has a position, a house, a pet or a drink, and a set of clues — direct, negative, either-or and positional ("the green house is immediately left of the white house") — pins down exactly one arrangement. The generator picks a random secret solution from a themed name pool, builds candidate clues from it, then keeps adding clues until a constraint solver proves the solution unique and finally strips every clue it can prove redundant. Solve on the page with the classic cross-hatch grid — click cells to mark ✕ and ●, with automatic conflict highlighting — use Check, Hint or Show solution, print a clue sheet with an empty grid, or export the grid as PNG/SVG.

Notes

  • Rules: each item of each category belongs to exactly one person. Mark ● where two items go together and ✕ where they cannot; a ● automatically crosses out the rest of its row and column inside that block.
  • Every puzzle is verified with a constraint-propagation and backtracking solver to have exactly one solution, and redundant clues are pruned so each remaining clue is actually needed (easy keeps a little redundancy on purpose).
  • Difficulty changes the clue mix: easy leans on direct "A goes with B" clues, hard prefers negative, either-or and relative-position clues that need longer deduction chains.
