Kakuro Solver

A kakuro (cross sums) solver that explains every deduction: rebuild your puzzle with the click-to-edit grid builder — toggle cells black or white, type the across and down sum clues straight into the black cells, navigate with the arrow keys — or paste the compact text format described in the help. The solver then reasons like a kakuro expert: unique sum combinations ("16 in two cells must be 7+9"), intersecting the possible digits of the across and down runs that share a cell, naked and hidden singles inside a run, and eliminations from the no-repeat rule, each reported against the clue it comes from. Pencil-mark candidates update after every step. Backtracking is used only when the logic stalls and is labeled as trial and error. Unsolvable clue combinations are rejected with a message, several solutions trigger a warning, and the solved grid can be printed with the technique log or exported as PNG/SVG.

Notes

  • Implemented techniques: unique sum combinations, cross-reference intersection of across and down run candidates, naked and hidden singles within runs, digit-uniqueness eliminations — with backtracking only as the labeled last resort.
  • Compact text input: one line per row, cells separated by spaces — "#" for a plain black cell, "17\24" for a black cell with across clue 17 and down clue 24 (either side may be empty), "." for a white cell.
  • Contradictory clues are rejected with a clear message, and puzzles with several solutions are flagged with a warning while one valid solution is still shown.
